Validation of Wine Grape Universal Models for Brix, pH, and TA Brimrose AOTF-NIR "Le Vigneron" miniature handheld spectrometer is an excellent tool for wine applications. The universal model created provides a basis for measuring Brix, pH, and TA at any individual vineyard. Once individual data is collected at a specific winery, the data can be added to the universal model and the resulting model should show comparable results to the models created. The results showed it was feasible to collect some spectral data from a given region and use that data with the universal models for measurements of Brix, pH, and TA in wineries in that region |
NIR Spectroscopy in Grape Quality Assessment VERC research demonstrates a Brimrose Luminar 5030 hand-held NIR analyzer that is a portable battery-powered device to take measurements for Brix, pH, TA, etc. from any grape in the vineyard without removing it from the vine. The scans are being done simultaneously with picking the same berries to perform standard lab testing as a way to compare results. This will enable calibrating the Brimrose NIR analyzer to provide the most accurate results in the future. |
