BTX Application

Brimrose Luminar 3060 Multiplexer NIR analyzer exhibits its excellent signal to noise ratio and dynamic range allowing the measurement of both PPM and percentage levels of BTX (Benzene, Toluene, and Xylene) components in fuels in vapor. Multiplexed in-line transmission flow cells are for liquids and gas products for petrochemical Industry.

Gasoline Blending

The following compounds and constituents can be measured using a Brimrose NIR Spectrometer:

• Measurements of Research Octane Number (RON), Motor Octane Number (MON), and Pump Octane Number (PON)
• Aromatics, Olefins, and Benzene
• Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP)
• Total Oxygenates
• Methyl Tertiary-Butyl Ether (MTBE), Tert-Amyl Methyl Ether (TAME), and Methanol

 Blend Uniformity

The diagram on the left shows how to use NIR spectrometers measure chemical and physical properties in Gasoline Blending streams. An enlarged version of this diagram shows clearly that the constituents can be measured in blend header stream, reformate stream, MTBE stream, LCC stream, pentane splitter bottoms, heavy aromatics, light straight run, and hydrocracker gasoline. Other NIR applications for biodiesel include:

• Determining Chemical and Physical Properties in Gasoil. The measured parameters include Cloud Point, Distillation Points, and Density.
• Measuring Chemical and Physical Properties in Kerosene. The measured parameters include Flash Point, Density, Freezing Point, Viscosity and All Physical Measurements that will be dependent upon the presence or absence of certain chemical constituents such as aromatics, paraffins, etc.
