To strengthen connections between industry, technology experts, and the materials science research community, Red Star Vietnam Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Agilent Technologies, successfully organized the seminar “Advanced UV-Vis-NIR Spectroscopy Solutions for Optical Materials Characterization” at the University of Science, VNU-HCM.
The event attracted lecturers, researchers, graduate students, and industry professionals working in the fields of materials science, energy, and semiconductors.
During the seminar, Dr. Nopparat Vorapalawut, an expert from Agilent Technologies, provided an overview of UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy, including the operating principles of spectrophotometers and measurement techniques such as absorbance, reflectance, and transmittance for materials characterization. Participants were also introduced to advanced optical measurement techniques and their practical applications in the analysis of thin films, semiconductor materials, photovoltaic materials, catalysts, and nanomaterials.
The seminar also featured Agilent’s Cary 4000, Cary 5000, Cary 6000i, and Cary 7000 Universal Measurement Spectrometer (UMS) systems, along with optical data analysis methods such as Tauc Plot and Kubelka-Munk transformation. These topics provided attendees with a deeper understanding of how to evaluate the optical properties of materials and select the most appropriate measurement techniques for their research applications.
The seminar fostered an open and engaging atmosphere, encouraging technical discussions between participants and Agilent experts. Beyond providing valuable insights into the latest technologies and applications, the event also strengthened collaboration among universities, research institutes, and industry partners in the field of materials science.
